How to Create a Google Reminder :Google Alerts
If you have a specialized topic , or want to know about something or someone in the latest news, you can enter the same search term into Google multiple times or on the same day, or more efficiently - you can set Google to Alert notifies you by email when new content on a topic appears in search results.
Why you need Google Reminders ( Google Alerts )
Explore the process in an example by setting a Google reminder to mention seo.
To get started, go to www.google.com/alerts. If you're not already signed in to Google, sign in to your account now. google acount.
Set Google Alerts search terms
Choose a search phrase that is fairly specific and specialized. If your term is common and popular, like "money" or "SEO," you end up with too much.
You can enter multiple words into the search field at the top of the screen, so try to narrow it down a bit. Note that Google Alerts will send you new index results, not all results available on the web. Sometimes a word might be all you need.
In this context, the single word "SEO" is a vague enough term that probably not many new pages are indexed every day. Type "SEO" in the search field and see a short list of current search results. Click the " Create Alert" button to set up an email alert for new indexed search results that contain the term "SEO".
This is enough for most alerts and doesn't require any tweaking, but if you're curious or want to dig deeper into the search results, you can Display option modify the alert , is located in Create reminder button.
Adjust alert options
In the options screen that pops up when you tap Show options , select how often you want to receive alerts. By default, at most once a day , but you may prefer to limit this to at most once a week .
If you've chosen a less clear term or a closely-focused item, select " Happening Immediately" .unless you want to select a specific category Automatic . You can specify news, blogs, videos, books, finances and other options.
The default language field is set to English , but you can change it.
The region field contains an extensive list of countries; the default of any region or the US is probably the best choice here.
Choose how you'd like to receive Google Alerts. The default is your Google Account email address. You can choose to receive Google Alerts as an RSS feed. You could previously read these feeds in Google Reader, but Google will send Google Reader to the Google Graveyard . Try Feedly an alternative
Now choose whether you want all results or only the best quality . If you choose to receive all reminders, you will receive a lot of duplicates.
The default settings are usually good enough, so you can do this by selecting the CREATE ALERT button.
